Fans Choose Doja Cat’s ‘Vie’ as This Week’s Favorite New Music

Doja Cat’s latest album, Vie, has claimed the top spot in this week’s fan-voted music poll, securing nearly 50% of the vote. The album, released on September 26, topped the Billboard music news poll, with fans voting from Friday’s announcement. Vie edged out other recent releases, including Mariah Carey’s Here for It All and Tate McRae’s Tit for Tat, which garnered 45% and 43% of the vote, respectively.
A return to Doja Cat’s pop roots, Vie is driven by the single ‘Jealous Type’, a track that marks her first collaboration with producer Jack Antonoff. The album features 15 tracks, including a stellar duet with SZA, showcasing her versatility as an artist. The album’s visual concept, revealed just days before its release, featured Doja Cat suspended mid-air by a yellow parachute caught in a tree, symbolizing her journey of self-discovery and growth.
In a poignant reflection, Doja Cat shared the meaning behind the album art: ‘Falling in love is putting trust in yourself and others. The yellow parachute represents curiosity, happiness, and adventure—flying you toward new experiences and scenes. The tree represents life and wisdom, offering safety but also teaching resilience through the pain of falling. Love grows upward, but it’s the roots that keep you grounded.’
Set to perform as the musical guest on Saturday Night Live on October 4, Doja Cat will embark on a global tour in November, with stops in New Zealand, Australia, and Asia. Other notable entries on this week’s poll include Olivia Dean’s The Art of Loving, 5 Seconds of Summer’s NOT OK, and Young Thug’s UY SCUTI. The final results of the poll are available below.
